Christine and family are still out in Chamonix.
Carl (our gold medallist) has returned to Chamonix for the rest of the season
Gill and I went out for a long weekend (Gill extended to make it a week)
We had glorious sunshine and beautiful blue skies, along with really lovely snow, and we took a day trip to the Vallee blanche. 8.30am we met with our guide at the bottom of the lift to the Aiguille du Midi (3842m) just below Mont Blanc, took the cable car up, got into harnesses and clipped onto a rope then walked down the roped route to the top of the glacier plateau to start skiing. We took a fabulous route, around crevasses and down couloirs, even having to be roped and lowered down an area around a beautiful ice wall, on skis.
It was fun and quite tiring on the legs but worth it all to see such magnificent scenery.
The other days we cruised around the various areas of Le Tour and Grand Montet, with Christine, Graham and their children, and other friends who joined us, hardly having to queue at lifts and enjoying lovely almost empty pistes.
Back to sunny London – Christine says hi to everyone.
